I disagree.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

Come on..

It's a little different with Bruce. Grant wrote that knowing what the outcome would be. It was clear that he wrote New X-men setting up a new status quo.. he left alot of plot threads and ideas out there for other writers to follow. Whedon managed to get in there before the hammer dropped, but it's not the same scenario at all as with Batman.

Not at all. He doesn't own the X-Men. Joe Q may have actually liked the run, but he had different ideas for the franchise.

Bruce Jones' Hulk was immediately discarded.
JMS' Spidey was mostly retconned.

It happens.

Yeah.. and that was a point of contention between JMS and Marvel, IIRC! :P

Whedon did a lot to jump off from Morrison's run, in comparison to other runs that ignored it. But tonally, I agree with you they're very different.

I don't know if anyone's clear on whose Spidey runs have been retconned...

Tonally, I agree. They told very different type of stories with their runs. But Whedon did use several of Morrison's ideas and ran with them, such as Cassandra Nova, Emma Frost, Genosha, Beast's de-evolution, Scott being more confident and becoming the leader he needs to be, etc.

To be fair JMS himself was cool with retconning everything from the point of Gwen Stacy's death right up to the marriage dissolution. It was Quesada's limiting the scope of the retcon that irked JMS.

A funny fact that most people that blame joey for OMD overlook :P

Not a huge fan of Morrison or his X-men run. Some small things i hate such as cat-beat, and other things I hate such as his treatment of Magneto.

I agree and disagree with it. Morrison had some good ideas and changes but the run was screwed up on a bunch of minor things and some changes were crap.

Morrison's run was good, and followed AWFULLY by Chuck Austin, but the res tof the runs since haven't been too bad. Carey's has been good, Miligan's was good, Brubaker's was decent, and Fraction's is awesome. New Mutants/New X-Men/X-Force has been great. And X-Factor has been kicking all kinds of ass. So yeah, fuck this guy, I'll take the X-Universe now over Morrison's time.

You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

X-Force is the only X-book I've been able to read after Morrison's run on New X-Men. It continues the thread of the now-confident-Cyclops-who-does-the-things-that-need-doing that I loved so much about Morrison's run. Also, bloody fucking carnage!

Austen's run sucked.

Carey's initial run with Bachalo was good. Legacy is only just decent right now.

Milligan's run was on Austen-levels of horribleness.

Brubaker's was decent.

Fraction's is decent.

X-Force is alright.

X-Factor is awesome.

The thing is.. Morrison's book was the ONLY good X-book of it's time. It was out at the same time Chuck Austen was doing Uncanny, which sucked balls.

The only other good X-book I remember off the top of my head that was out during that era was X-Statix.

Yeah, I read the first 20 issues of X-Factor and stopped when I realized I didn't give a fuck about any of the characters in the book.
