Like most of Casey and Fox’s run so far, this issue was crazy. Kurt and Daniel fight some kind of crazy fire-monster, and in the process, they turn into a version of Haunt that looks like a cross between a motorcycle and a lizard and a fish. It was mental, and made even better by Nate Fox’s idiosyncratic and hyper-kinetic style. Still Harvey Tubman is also around, and he continues to kick ass and be funny. I also liked that this issue brought back some of the elements of Kirkman’s run, with one of the Agency workers contacting Daniel. I did like that Casey immediately jettisoned a lot of the old stuff and did his own thing, but it makes sense that it hasn’t been completely forgotten. Add to that the police stuff trying to get a hold of Daniel and the Church, there’s a whole lot of insanity going on in this book, and that’s just how I like it.
