Byrne lackies are saying that Slott is damaging children with images of geriatric sex.

Slott says that in the scene in question Aunt May was fully clothed and while some might have taken it as sex, others could also have taken it as old people kissing which grossed out Peter.

Byrne jumps in with more 'think of the children' stuff

Slott brings up Byrne's infamous Superman/Barda porno issue and says his scene is a lot more tame in comparison.

Byrne is offended.

And they've been in a cyclical argument last I saw.

Now, see, I'm not a big fan of this storyline at all, but Slott's right on the money about the Barda porn. Byrne has always been a prurient writer in that regard (witness also the amount of T&A he likes to draw), so has no ground to stand on here.

Marvel has been shafting Spider-Man for the better part of two decades now. I kind of thought the coast was finally clear, but I guess not. Ah well, plenty of other books I could be picking up instead.

I find both of them at fault to a degree. As many people have said, the man who wrote and drew the Superman/Barda porn issue of Action Comics has no business complaining about the Otto/May scene. But Slott really should admit that he hid the event off-panel in order to deliberately suggest a sex scene. If it was something less "scandalous" like a kiss, why keep it off-panel?? If you're going to do such a thing, you may as well own it.
