In the interviw above with Geoff johns he addresses that they have made changes to Captain Marvel's history, including his name actually becoming Shazam.

I see why they're doing it, but is it a good idea?

On a side note, He also says there is still hope for a movie. Seems like he really wants Curse of Shazam to make the character grow into something big.

I hope they don't screw up Black Adam. Hes one of my all time favorites.

well its confusing, to have him be called Shazam in EVERYTHING except inside the book. Every time there's a figure, an appearance in a video game or anything else its Shazam, so it only makes sense to just call him Shazam.

Dammit now he's fucking up the Marvel Family!!!!!!!

Other then Mary the family finally worked. His name is Captain Marvel dammit!!! He is the Champion of SHAZAM thats why he calls on the wizard for his power. Why is Geoff Johns allowed to continue fucking things up? Its bad enough he's fucked up the JLA, but now he's going to far and must be stopped.

I love the character and the family but as long as Marvel Comics keeps reusing the name ad-nauseam, I fully understand DC's move.

Hey, maybe he has to say "Captain Marvel" to make the change :smt102
