I guess Byrne's found a new home for a while. Following that one-shot about the Romulans, Byrne is producing a new Star Trek series. And he's also putting out a "phonebook" edition of Next Men. It reprints the 2112 one-shot plus the first 12 issues.

I don't care much for Byrne's current stuff. But I got rid of my Next Mens a while ago to make space. Now I'm thinking of ordering this to read the story again. Cuz you can't find issues of JBNM anywhere.

He's pencilling an issue of Angel: After The Fall as well. Which pisses me off, because I'm going to have to buy the issue so as to get the complete story. Damn Byrne.

Read a summary of the story online.

It's not really the same. Any other book and I'd drop the issue, but not this one (especially as Susanne reads it too).

Y'know, Byrne said a while back that he doesn't like being inked by Bob Layton. Because Layton made his faces look really gay, for want of a better term. Now I think Byrne's art has the same problem. He used to be the master of different faces. Now, something's just off about them. That's why I don't like a lot of his current stuff.

Byrne made me into a comic collector. He wasn't the one that really got me hooked on comics...that was Peter David...but he was the first artist who I followed from book to book, and even if I'd see a cover of his, I'd pick the book up and give it a try. He may be dated by today's standards, woth in terms of writing and art, and his peronal comments and internet anecdotes certainly haven't won him any fans, but he's still a big name in comics.

Not really - Angel's just a show I loved and I want to read the continuation, as does the missus.

I've seen the covers he's done for some Trek titles and I've got to say they look good.

Meh. As someone who got into comics recently I have no love for Byrne. I don't like his art, and I've never read a Byrne illustrated comic I enjoyed. Never seen his writing but I doubt that'd turn me around.

Try his Fantastic Four run. Seriously, he set the high water mark for that title, and I say that as someone who makes an effort to avoid the man these days.

We're Angel fans. I'm just a fan, not a fanboy, and I don't think Vicki's a fanboy, either, but she certainly likes the Angel. She doesn't have much time to read just yet, and when she does, she likes to have a complete arc to read. But I'm sure someday she'll go through both the Angel and Buffy new seasons.

I'm enjoying them both...I think Buffy had run the TV course, but there was lots more Angel stories that TV could have told.
