John Higgins Takes Over Writing Before Watchmen Backups, Wein Repents

Len Wein has had a change of heart, and John Higgins is taking over as writer on Curse of the Crimson Corsair.

John Higgins, the original Watchmen colorist and current artist on Curse of the Crimson Corsair, a backup story that runs through the pages of Before Watchmen, a series of Watchmen Prequel comics created by DC as part of a campaign to utterly destroy the life of legendary creator Alan Moore, who wrote Watchmen back in the eighties, before he was a bearded recluse who hated everyone.

Wein, who was the editor on Watchmen, has reportedly been under a lot of stress since being ambushed by Tim Marchman, bane of comic book publishers, on The Daily Beast last month. Wein was accompanied to his interview with Marchman by a handler named "Pam," who said embarrassing things like "It’s not Len’s place to talk about the business! He can really only talk about what he’s writing and what he’s doing with these characters now.”

Wein must be regretting betraying Moore, once the savior of the comics industry, by exploiting his most revered and acclaimed work. DC claims that Wein is actually quitting in order to focus on his other Before Watchmen work, including Before Watchmen: Ozymandias and an epilogue. However, The Outhouse has obtained this exclusive video of Wein abruptly quitting the writing job on Curse of the Crimson Corsair, which makes those claims suspect:
