AKA Hollywood also doesn't give a shit about creators' rights.

Source: Twitter

While most people seem to think that comic book creators who have their work optioned for movies and/or television live opulant lifestyles torn straight from the pages of The Great Gatsby, it seems that the Hollywood money might be flowing as freely as previously thought.

John Layman, writer of Image's acclaimed Chew series, spoke about the money he never received from Showtime after the comic was optioned for a television show.

Not exactly inspiring words for those thinking that their comic book is going to make them the next Robert Kirkman.  It's another sobering reminder of the sorry state of creator rights in the comic industry and abroad.  Bad enough that Jack Kirby's family (probably) hasn't seen a dime of the $7 billion dollars in ticket sales his creations have earned at the box office, but now major networks can't even be bothered to satisfy current contracts with living and breathing creators? Fuck it, this industry sucks sometimes.

Make sure to tweet @SHO_PR or @SHO_network with the hastag #SupportCreators. Maybe a public backlash will encourage them to respond.
