...and I finished Starman #0. So far, so good. It's really interesting reading Robinson's notes afterwards in which he described a DC where his version of Starman is a direct reaction to the "changes" of the characters at the time (ie Hal going bad, Barry being dead, etc). It's pretty safe to say he could've never come up with the exact concept today, although I wonder what kind of reactionary concept would strike a cord with the current version of the DCU?

Anyway, this series had better be good as Chap and everyone else says!

Starman is the best finite superhero book ever.

There. I said it.

Read the book. And don't judge it fully until you've read the whole thing. It's an epic.

It's a modern 'hero's journey'..

If I didn't already have the first couple of trades, I WOULD buy the omnibus. And just wait till you get to the Times Past issues later on in the run. Those issues are jewels.

Eventually I'll have to pick this up.

Maybe as an early birthday gift or something.

I must admit, Chap, that I disagree. I've just begun reading Starman, and while it's good, it's nowhere NEAR as great as everyone has made it out to be. At least, not YET. I still plan to read it all. If I change my mind, you'll know. If I don't, I throw the run on ebay. :)

I have read the OMni and I thought it was brilliant... it was like a Robinson was writing a superhero comic especially for me... it spoke to me and then it seemed to mix the elements from some of my more favorite comics like Deadman and Sandman to make this pretty freaking cool comic.

I think you are letting the hype get in the way of your enjoyment. It is like people who are told that Citizen Kane is the greatest movie ever made and then they go in expecting some mind blowing and immensely entertaining thing. Well it was mind blowing ages ago and it is not the most fun movie you will ever see, but it is a fine piece of storytelling. Just enjoy the damn thing and then make your own judgement of it.
