Yup. And worse? Based on sales they all think they're creating something great.

The entire Justice League comes off as a group of elitist snobs, Green Arrow comes off like a little kid desperately seeking the approval of the big kids, and the Martian Manhunter (upon the revelation that he presumably attacked the League) just kinda stares off into space. Oh and I don't even want to get started on the atrocity of the Shazam back-up.

Well, I hung in there as long as I could but I seriously doubt that I will buy another issue of this crapfest for the foreseeable future. Sadly enough, the only books that I am really enjoying out of this relaunch are the books that didn't need the relaunch in the first place.

I didn't think it was that bad. I would expect people at these people to be fairly strong willed, and they don't really know each other all that well yet. They are together for a good cause and for mutual protection, but they don't necessarily agree with or like each other. I think calling a bunch of people who out themselves in harm's way to help people douches because they aren't trusting and smiling is a bit much.

Billy goes to his new home, meets his 5 new foster brothers and sistersa (including den mother Mary and resident rapscallion Freddy), acts like a dick, makes the youngest girl cry, gets beat up by Mary, moons over a pic of his parents, and sees the wizard's face in a thundercloud.

so basically, fucking nothing happens. even considering it's just 8-page backups, this shit is as decompressed as the worst stuff from the Jemas era at Marvel.

Exactly and now apparently Billy and Mary arent related any more and Freddy (the one true Captain Marvel) is blonde and seems older then Billy.

It's possible that Billy and Mary could still be related...but if it continues to be this bad then I don't think anybody will be around to find out. I'm glad that DC could give us another teenaged character who is angry at the world. Lord knows that is a refreshing story!

Once again I will say that I don't see why they couldn't just modernize Billy a bit but still leave him with that overwhelming sense of wonder and optimism. Sure, life dealt him a bad hand but that doesn't mean that tomorrow won't be better. Why would the Wizard give these amazing abilities to a kid who is just like every other kid out there who thinks the world owes them something? Wouldn't he be more likely to give those abilities to somebody who has had as rough of a life as Billy but still faces each new day with a smile and is excited about the endless possibilities before them?

No...no you're right DC, let's turn the wielder of the powers of Shazam into a brat who makes a little girl cry by shoving the cold reality of her world into her face when he has just met her.

Come on that was the one great thing they did pre flash point. The wizard moved on, Billy stepped up, and Freddie got promoted. I always loved the idea of Legacies.

Yeah, this was the last time that DC did anything that was palatable with the character.

Winick was surprisingly good on this.
