Actually DC was formerly known as National, National Publications or more technically National Allied Publications.

"National Comics" was a comic published by Quality Comics (home to: Blackhawk, Plastic Man, Uncle Sam, Phantom Lady and the always popular Red Bee).

Alan Moore, Garth Ennis and Jonathan Hickman are too good for DC and Jesus is too busy hanging out with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy.

It seems DC is quickly reaching the point (if it hasn't already) of becoming more and more "crash-TV" like. They seem to be throwing everything up against the wall to see what sticks.
