He-Man and... Sir Laser Lot?

Postby sdsichero » Sun Jun 24, 2012 9:32 pm

Eight-year-old Geoff Johns’ He-Man character debuts today on comiXology

As a prelude to this summer’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe comic book revival, DC Comics and comiXology today kicked off a digital-first He-Man comic series. The first issue, written by Geoff Johns with art by Howard Porter and John Livesay, is available now for 99 cents.

The comic features Sir Laser Lot, a MOTU character that Johns first envisioned when he was eight years old. Sir Laser Lot will debut as an action figure this summer at the San Diego Comic-Con as a part of the line’s 30th anniversary.

Soon they're going to buy licensing rights to Sir Mix-A-Lot's image for this.

While I would normally agree, that character looks like it would slot quite nicely into the general goofiness of the MOTU franchise.

this figure/character came about because of the 30th anniversary of Masters of the Universe. there are 6 "brand new" characters, one by the Four Horsemen (the sculpters of the toys), one by Toyguru (the person who runs the line), the "create a character" contest winner, one by the winner of the current create a character contest winner. Its not a SDCC exclusive by any means, its part of the Masters of the Universe Classics Figures

I agree. I love and collect MOTU off and one and while Laser Lot is plenty goofy this is a toy line that is fully of goofiness. There's a laser gun toting cowboy, a dude with spring legs who smashes stuff with his head, a crab monster man etc etc.

And anything that get's the brands name out there is fine with me. Thundercats, GI Joe, Transformers and TMNT are all having a nice swell in popularity MOTU which was one of the first big 80's kid lines needs some love.
