Why publish about 60 books a month when the market can't sustain them all.

The whole industry has been short sighted for far too long. I can't believe the person who posted "don't release a book with an unknown character" can call someone else shortsighted.

but its true.. just look at the DC reboot, all the books that are selling badly are the ones that aren't connected to "known" characters.

Yeah... because all those characters are still around. In an industry where only certain characters are ever going to be popular, you're only ever going to get a dwindling readership.

Real comics which sell well to the wider audience are stuff like Kick Ass, Scott Pilgrim, Walking Dead etc etc. Marvel are going to struggle to realize this though when their best writers are working on ASM 693 or UXM 403

Bendis should be launching a new Ghost Rider series.

Look at the momentum he got by having Kevin Smith launch Daredevil.
