Don't they already kind of do this? I mean maybe add Hulk, but they've been doing the "family" concept lately.

Please do it Marvel.

Creators > Characters is horseshit. Put the focus back where it belongs because I'd love to read some of my favorite characters again (like the Fantastic Four, Thing, Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, Avengers, Defenders, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Wonder Man, Beast, Dr Strange, Spider-Man, Moon Knight, Zemo, Atlas, Songbird, Mach-V, Sasquatch, Nova, Sub-Mariner, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Doc Samson, Warlock, Black Bolt, Medusa, etc etc etc.)

In what other field would you say characters come above creators?

The actual creator of any particular characters(s) can do whatever they want with them. In this scenario the "creator > character" is fine with me.

But anytime a writer takes thier square peg story and forces it onto an established round hole character, well, imo, that's where it goes bad. This hold true for me in comics as well as any TV series, film franchise or book series that uses pre-existing characters.

Different directions can and do work - as long as there is respect to what came before (Frank Miller's Daredevil for instance). When a writer pulls shit from nowhere in order to tell their story though, that's the difference (Wanda's insanity).

Since DC had 52 #1s because 52 has a significant meaning to the DC Universe, does that mean that Marvel will have 616 #1s?

Quesada said last year that they'd be shrinking their line in 2012. What we're seeing now is that coming to pass.

I wouldn't mind seeing the lesser featured characters in minis with a stellar creative team and have it not become an ongoing.
However, Liefeld is an enigma wrapped in a pouch-filled, muscular, footless conundrum.

I think (and emphasis on I think), that's not as profitable for the Big Two because most of those creators are locked into a fixed page rate. Usually, miniseries have a smaller page rate than ongoing books. If you give those miniseries to big creators, you have to pay them the rate in their exclusive contract, no matter what.

I can see that, but they seem to use them on the big crossover minis. I look at the UK 'series' system vs. US 'seasons'. The series has a limited run, vs the ongoing nature of US tv. I'd rather see a great mini with a beginning, middle and end than a mediocre series that if more concerned about finding it's legs.

Emphasis on "big crossover minis". If it's a summer blockbuster starring all the favorites, Marvel can guarantee sales numbers it can't for Dr. Strange or whoever.

I'm not saying I disagree with your notion, but I think Blue is right about the economics of why we don't see more of that. I'd love to see Marvel Comics Presents come back as a series of minis.

Doesn't Marvel already have a multi-verse?
