Listen the end result might be okish, but they've literally just spat in the fact of the fans. Fuck logical progression, fuck a decent story reason, here's a long lost son, he is black and is now Nick Fury because we've got a film coming out. We don't care if it doesn't make logical sense, we don't care about telling an organic story that might take the characters to interesting paths, here is a black Nick Fury because we've got a film coming out.

It's ridiculous. Such an obvious "fuck off" to the fans. I genuinely am shocked that people are ok with this.

I've got no problems with it. Yeah it's lame, but honestly, when I saw it over at the Ultimate U, I thought he could be Nick's son. Nick is the WW2 guy but the Sam Jackson version is his son. Nick Fury, like James Bond and Bruce Wayne... beds the ladies. All the ladies.

Nick Fury being a hundred something or his son is the SHIELD guy... and Sam Jackson is awesome as Fury so... what's lamer?

Fair enough. What I liked about Marcus is that when he started out, he was a badass army guy that was something out of a Halo or Call Of Duty game. That's what got me interested as Marvel hasn't done a lot of army characters recently. I mean you've had characters that have been in the army such as Cap, Wolvie, Punisher, Moon Knight, Nick Fury Sr. etc but not much with characters on the front field directly. I wouldn't mind him being a SHIELD agent but they should have touched up more on his experience on the battlefield as opposed to have him being another as you put it-James Bond or Bruce Wayne as we have enough of that already.

This is why I'm ultimately fine with it. It works.

White Fury hasn't done much more than behind the scenes manipulating chess pieces on the board of the MU in a long time. Even in Secret Warriors.

Black Fury's role looks like it'll be far different.. more Winter Soldier-esque, if to be compared to anything.

You are hell-bent on getting "Black Fury" to stick.

He and Coulson could still be a part of SHIELD as agents with his father still in the background and show how different Nick and his son were rather than just have him be the black version of him by taking on his name and that ridiculous costume which needs to be burned in a bon-fire( How did Steve manage to uphold his dignity by wearing that dumb attire is beyond me).

It's not THAT bad of a costume. I kind of like it.

It is progression, and new character growth and spotlight (those things you always say comics should do, remember?) that respects what's been done with Fury lately and allows him to keep that role, while introducing a new character to fill his old role who has a chance to catch on with fans. Host and Bunn gave Johnson/Jr. His own personality to counter the obvious physical hand-me-down traits and made it interesting.

Dude, it's been ONE issue.. you act like you already know exactly how everything will play out. His character didn't change, just because his appearance did.

I don't know why you're so hellbent on connecting his appearance and how he looks to his character. His character didn't change because he put on a different outfit and shaved his head, or lost an eye.

Steve Rogers was still Steve Rogers, whether he was wearing the Cap suit or the Super Soldier outfit.

If that were the case then why change him from what he was which was just fine already? At least the good thing with Steve is that they gave him back his role as Cap and hopefully they will do the same by bringing back Nick Sr and Marcus goes back to being Marcus. At least that's what I hope.

I can assure you that when I ask for progression and character growth, I don't mean to make the comics universe like the Marvel universe.
