I'll go you one better, which I read about in Marvel Comics: The Untold Story. According the Whilce Portacio, he and Jim Lee replaced Chris Claremont as the X-Men plotters because the editor "hated everything that Chris said." That's right, Claremont was actually demoted to scripter because the editor thought that he knew better than a guy who turned the X-Men from a cancelled title into the best selling franchise and a multimedia juggernaut.

That editor, of course, was Bob Harras.

And the rest-as the saying goes-is history.

The first few issues of the original book w/ Mike W. Barr were pretty good.

Plus the 2000's incarnation with Nightwing as the team leader lasted 50 issues as well.

Franco wrote this on twitter about 8 hours ago: Wow. Twitter was crazy today. I guess it's true.

And Sterling Gates was the first to drop the bombshell. Not to mention Waid is friends with the guys and has done several signings at their shop.

I'd say this is worse than the Simone thing because they had no idea and it's a fucking all ages book. Really classless of DC.

that is horrible. Especially to the two creators who probably single handedly kept the all ages line going the last few years...

The pitch wasn't bad. Editors sliced it to ribbons. It was like two months of set-up with special one-shots detailing how Batman chose each Outsider over another candidate. In the end Salvation Run killed Bedard's proposal because top brass behind DC thought it be better used as an event than a Elseworlds tale. So bye bye Boomer, Catwoman, and Martian Manhunter.

It's still amazing that Chuck Dixon churned out an enjoyable first few issues since all he had for prep time was a month.

I saw an article earlier talking about the stealth cancellation. But Gates/Waid are really the only 2 i've seen reacting so far.
