Source: Blue Sky Disney

File this one under "everybody knew it was inevitable." Blue Sky Disney, a blog that has been very accurate about Disney rumors in the past, reports:

The Suits in the know have determined that no new contracts will be given to Dark Horse after the current ones expire. So all new projects after 2013 will be handled internally by Marvel.

BSD went on to say that current Dark Horse projects may continue until the deals expire, but no new ones will be created. The first Marvel Star Wars books won't show up until 2015, which will coincide nicely with the release of Episode 7.

Unfortunately, the millions of moviegoers who might be potential comic book readers will never know about any of this because you can only find comics in the real world if you're specifically looking for them, which often involves entering an unpleasant and embarrassing comic book shop.

I would love to see a Star Wars comic with some top-notch Marvel artists. Not that the guys at Dark Horse were bad (the art in Legacy was good), but to see some truly amazing art in a Star Wars comic would be radical.

Radical's usual art standard would be awesome in SW books.

Dunno if its a bad thing. I'm reading WS:KOTOR Vol 10 and its insufferable.

Maybe its time to pass the torch.

I haven't enjoyed much of DW's Star Wars output over the last year, but they have some solid projects coming out in 2013. Brian Wood's Star Wars comic and Gabriel Hardman's Legacy series both look really promising. It's a shame they'll have a time limit.
