New Amazing Spider-Man Series to be Rebooted After Only One Issue

Setting a new record for quickest Marvel reboot, April's Amazing Spider-Man will get a .1 issue in May.

Coming out of the Marvel May solicits, The Outhouse has learned that Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos's Amazing Spider-Man series, which hasn't even hit stores yet, will receive a .1 issue in May, effectively rebooting the brand new series. Ramon Perez will replace Ramos on art. The issue, numbered Amazing Spider-Man #1.1, will be a Year One issue, focusing on the first 60 days of Spider-Man. The move marks the fastest Marvel has ever rebooted a title, beating out the previous record of every single other Marvel ongoing which gets rebooted roughly once a year.

"We really don't see the value in selling books that aren't number one issues," explained Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso. "The sales start dropping after that. It's all downhill, you know?"

Alonso called a second solicitation for an issue #2 in May an oversight, and promised that the book would be back with issue 1.1.1 in May, causing Dan Slott to pound his fists on his keyboard in disgust at Alonso's wanton spoiling.

Here's the solicit:

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #1.1
DAN SLOTT (W) • RAMoN PERéZ (A)
COVER by Alex Ross
Sketch variant by Alex Ross
Variant by John Romita Jr.
YEAR ONE: LEARNING TO CRAWL!
• He sought revenge... and found responsibility. From that night on, a new life began.
• Join Peter Parker as he takes his first steps towards finding his way in the world as Spider-Man.
• The chapter you never knew about the story you know by heart.
• Dan Slott (SPIDER-MAN/HUMAN TORCH) and Ramón Perez (the Eisner winning TALE OF SAND & WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN) bring you a new & reverent spin on the first 60 days of Spider-Man.
32 PGS./Rated T …$3.99

Spider-Man had a first 60 days?

Fucking Marvel press releases spoiling things for me, they're worse than Rich Johnston!

I like the perspective.
I like the aerosol spray effect on the webshooters.
As always, the anatomy is accurate.
I just don't like the way he renders Spidey's costume. Spidey doesn't look like a superhero in a costume, more like a normal person in a costume. And I know he renders DC heroes the same way, but for those characters it works.

Spidey is a normal person in a costume, he just has super powers.

Doesn't the super powers automatically make him a not-normal person?!! :?

Of course, but he isn't super built or an alien... More than any other superhero, Peter Parker is supposed to be relatable.

You say that now, but keep in mind Marvel plans to reboot you in April with a new Eli Katz .1, so...

To be honest, I feel like *I* could use a nice reboot. Anyone know where I can sign up?

I was detracted by the cover art, but a quick google of ramon perez artwork made me interested in the title again.
