Hold on to your foreheads…

Almost two years ago sequel seasons to the hit anime FLCL (aka. Fooly Cooly) were announced. It's been kind of quiet on the FLCL front, but we did get a trailer for the upcoming sequels during Anime Expo last year. The original anime aired in 2000 in Japan and 2003 on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and follow up was originally planned to air in early 2018 almost 15 years since the wild anime hit US shores.

Last week, a new poster by FLCL's original character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto was posted online first on the Japanese Twitter feed, then on the US one:

Today, a new trailer for the sequels dropped and we got new names for two seasons as well as their target months. The sequel is planned to be 12 episodes split over two seasons: FLCL: Progressive in June and FLCL: Alternative in September on Adult Swim's Toonami block (in Japan the sequels will be two theatrical releases). Have a look:

The Japanese FLCL Twitter feed announced their movie dates. It appears the chapters appear in reverse order there, at least in title. FLCL Alterna will debut on September 7, while FLCL Progre (not official translations, they are actually "orutana" and "purogure") will premiere on September 28.

Here are the key visuals for the movies:

Japan has their own trailer, a little different from the west's one:
