Oh yeah, comics stuff happened yesterday too. Let's talk about it.
Source: Press Release
Well, we were so preoccupied with sex pillows and video games yesterday, we barely remembered that comics stuff was happening too. Marvel sent us two press releases, one for the cover of Infinity #3, and one for Nova #8, telling us about how Nova will tie in with Infinity, the latest super-mega-crossover event that will shake the Marvel Universe to its very yadda yadda yadda.
Man, we just go right from one event straight into another nowadays, don't we? I haven't even finished complaining about Age of Ultron yet, and already I've got to figure out why Infinity is going to destroy the comic book industry with its hologram covers and its tie-in books and its love of Wolverine.
Damn, Marvel. Damn.
Ok, so first up, let's have a look at this press release for Infinity #3 and how important it is:
NOTHING LASTS FOREVER – Marvel Unveils INFINITY #3 Cover
This September, the Marvel Universe fights for survival in the biggest battle it’s ever faced – but first, Marvel is proud to unveil the jaw dropping main cover to Infinity #3 by Adam Kubert! Infinity, the six part blockbuster comic event of the summer, brought to you by the star studded creative team of Jonathan Hickman, Jim Cheung, Jerome Opena & Dustin Weaver, takes fans to every corner of the Marvel Universe, and beyond! Earth has been marked as an “Avengers World”, protected by Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and more from the deadliest threats facing humanity. A powerful and destructive race is on a collision course with Earth and the only thing in their path is the Avengers! But even Earth’s Mightiest Heroes realize the one hope of defeating this dire threat is to unite every great hero across the cosmos…because only with a united Avengers Universe is there any chance of survival!
Let me stop this for a moment here. You know, this is why Marvel never has their writers storm off books in droves and attack them on Twitter like happens at DC every few weeks. Jonathan Hickman gets his turn at an event comic, and Marvel gives him an entire harem of artists to draw it for him. Cheung. Opena. Weaver. This book is only six issues? Pimpin' ain't easy, Hickman.
With our heroes at the other end of the universe, who is left to protect Earth? Enter Thanos, the galaxy’s most ruthless threat and an unparalleled force of brutality who brings order to the chaos of life through murder. The greatest threat to the Mad Titan’s work—and perhaps the universe’s greatest hope—is something he created leaving no world safe. Earth’s last hope may lie in the hands of a man who can level cities with a single whisper – Black Bolt, king of the Inhumans. But can the fearsome leader of a race hated and feared by his world, lead his people against Thanos? If they fall, so does the Earth—and the entire universe with it.

Alright, not too shabby. Now what's going on with Nova?
NOTHING LASTS FOREVER – NOVA Heads Into INFINITY!
This September, superstar writer Zeb Wells is joined by fan-favorite artist Paco Medina to show fans what Sam Alexander is made of in Nova #8! Tying into the blockbuster event of the summer, Infinity, Nova #8 shows fans what new threats lie beyond the edges of the Marvel Universe!
With our heroes at the other end of the universe, and Sam Alexander having just gotten a hold of his new found powers – is he able to help the impending threat coming to Earth? Thanos, the galaxy’s most ruthless threat and an unparalleled force of brutality, is coming and Nova must learn quickly the legacy and responsibility thrust upon him.
“Thanos is not so subtly trying to pillage the Earth,” explains Wells in an interview with Marvel.com. “Sam, as one of the few cosmic heroes still planet-side, figures he needs to step up to the plate.”
Every issue of Nova includes a code for a free digital copy of that same comic on the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android devices. Additionally, each issue of Infinity features special augmented reality content available exclusive through the Marvel AR app – including cover recaps, behind the scenes features and more that add value to your reading experience at no additional cost.
This September, the intensity of Infinity is turned up a notch as Wells & Medina throw the first blows in Nova #8!
