What happened at Marvel's Amazing Spider-Man Panel at New York Comic Con today?
Arune Singh, Steven Whacker, Tom Brennan, and Dan Slott hosted the Amazing Spider-Man panel at New York Comic Con today. After starting off discussing the Spider-Island event and teasing a big finish. An image was shown of a Daily Bugle headline proclaiming "New York Destroyed," the panel revealed that the first issue of Avenging Spider-Man will come with a code to download a free digital copy of the book. If this code was used a lot, Arune Singh promised that it could happen with a lot more books in the future.
The first big announcement was for a
new ongoing Scarlet Spider series coming in January 2012 from Chris Yost and Ryan Stegman. The old costume was mocked, and a new costume sans hoodie was revealed. The new Scarlet Spider, as yet unidentified, will encompass the extreme aspects of Spider-Man and Venom, whatever that means.

Spider-Man will crossover with Daredevil in January in Amazing Spider-Man #667 and Daredevil #8. The story will feature the return of the Black Cat.

It seems that Daredevil, Punisher, Moon Knight, and Ghost Rider are part of the Spider-Man corner of the Marvel U, as all three books were discussed. Michael Lark will draw an upcoming issue of Punisher. Big changes were promised in issue #9 of Moon Knight. Hawkeye will be appearing soon in Ghost Rider.

Some unremarkable stuff was said about Venom and Carnage U.S.A.

The fan Q&A yielded some interesting topics. One More Day was discussed of course, and Slott told readers to watch out for ASM #662 and 663. Whacker promised that each of the many Spider-Man books will be justified with a reason for existence. The Sinister Six will be returning soon in Amazing Spider-Man. While Norman Osborn will be returning soon in New Avengers, the Hobgoblin will be returning in Amazing Spider-Man, which is sure to either bring immense pain or pleasure to Outhouse staff writer Zechs.

Amazing Spider-Man will soon be receiving the tagline "World's Greatest Superhero," in the style of taglines the Fantastic Four's "World's Greatest Comic Magazine" or Daredevil's "The Man Without Fear."
