I miss the marriage and think retconning it was a mistake. Having said that, Slott's ASM is the best the book has been since Roger Stern was writing it: it's fun, exciting and true to the character I grew up loving.

I just wish Spidey wouldn't get a new outfit every other arc.

And I miss the days when Spidey would chase after a van of thugs after a heist.

And Cardiac. Comics need more Cardiac.

He's a Doctor with one of the coolest costumes, dammit!!

Well, you're wrong. You've obviously never been to the Spider-Man Crawlspace or read any of (Edited to remove Spidertour's real name, by request - Nieto.)'s unbiased reviews. Clearly the current run of Spider-Man "sucks nuts." :P

We'll take a break from that. Promise.

This... can be arranged. :-)
(More "street-level" stuff is on the way.)

Would love to bring back Cardiac. Fun character. 2012 is pretty blocked out. Let me see what I can do in 2013.

Well, that's cool (regarding the street level stuff). As much as I love Spidey on the Avengers, doing so (to me) amps his level up and takes away from his roots.

A character like Sin Eater seems like small potatoes now.

I think that is why I am loving Scarlet Spider so much, reminds me of Spidey without the FF and Avengers on speed dial.

The two biggest things that put me off the book right now.

Peter is Tony Stark Jr. with unlimited resources to create whatever gadgets and suits he needs. Not a fan of the Horizon Labs job at all.

I like Horizon. It's good to remember that Peter is a scientific genius and can do better than just hawking pictures to the Bugle.

Peter is smart. Peter shouldn't be Reed Richards or Tony Stark smart. And he shouldn't be a genius at EVERYTHING. That's absurd.

Spider-Man was always meant to be an everyman type of character. The fact that he had to settle for lowly jobs like being a photographer, because his life as Spider-Man kept ruining everything else was appealing.

Sure, I'm all for some progress and you can't keep things stale for 50 years.. but like Bubba said, the teacher development was nice. Stuff along those lines. Keeping Peter grounded..

Being able to fix all of your problems by whipping up some gadget everytime isn't nearly as interesting as outwitting your opponents. It's like a shortcut, to me. And it feels more like an Iron Man thing to do.. I keep expecting Pete to whip up some Hulkbuster armor or something.

That recent Mark Waid issue that crossed over with Daredevil is one of the best issues throughout this "Big Time" era.

I think the current storyline undercut that though, Pete spent all that time building his anti-Sinister Six armour... and it didn't work.

Agreed.

Best Spidey since before 1987.

JMD's Spectacular Spidey run in the early 90's (pre-clone saga) was better.

JMS' run up until Sins Past and when Spidey joined the Avengers was better, but it took a massive dive around there. With the exception of the Loki story. That was really good. Around #500 I think.

Parts of BND were REALLY good. Others not so much. And I am really not a fan of Big Time right now at all.

I guess it's how you define improvement.

IMO they've gone from dark and brooding to fun and witty. Give me post fun OMD Spidey verses Totem/spider god Spidey any day of the week.

The change in attitude, tone and fun is an improvement in the book to me. The return of many classic characters, introduction of new ones and the return of any supporting cast outside of May and MJ is also a vast improvement to me.

That implies they knew it was sucking with such crappy talent as JMS, Romita and Deodato on it and allowed it to suck for several YEARS without doing anything about it.
