I've been thinking about this somewhat, what I want and expect to see the next year in comics:

Bendis to leave Mighty Avengers

Didio won't be in the position he is now next year. I think his times almost up.

Spider-man and Mary Jane will be dating.

Whedon gets one other issue of Runaways out

James Robinson's Justice League is a success.

The Rucka/JHW3 Batwoman ships (this will be in '08).

Superman/Batman will either be canceled or completely retooled.

The Ultimate Universe will be on its last legs creatively.

Trinity will be called a universal success.

Winick will be off of Titans but sales will be so mediocre it might not matter.

Steve Rogers will be alive, but he won't be Captain America.

As the resident Winick Supporter, I have to ask: You don't think he'll make it to #15 or so? It's kind of his baby. I'd honestly be surprised if he left before #25 (assuming the series makes it that far).

It's not like he's writing a whole lot of other stuff.

Or did I miss some scuttlebutt?

Comics will be available in digital format from every comic company for a nominal fee.

Superboy Prime will be retconned out of existence.

Ben Parker was a Kree double agent.

Wonder Woman will loser her powers, get her powers back, lose them again and then get them back.

Warner Brothers will sell DC Comics to The Walt Disney Company.

Archie Digests will see a new neighbor at check-out stands, notably Spider-Man, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern.

Another year will be around issue 15. I don't hate Winick's recent writing but nothing really excites me about it either. I'm probably prejudiced against this version of the Titans because it reminds me of what Devin Grayson tried to do.

Gotcha.

I think whether people like it or not, Winick will probably write this title for a while.

Unless they find something else for him to do.

I'd really like it if he did a proper Challengers of the Unknown title exploring the multiverse, just because of the fact I enjoyed his Exiles work.

Or maybe a Jason Todd/Damien title.

Maybe not in a year, but it's coming. I could see a huge selection of back issues becoming officially available in digital format in no more than three years. Of course unofficially they've been available for years.

However, in a years time I predict one of the major publishers will have a net-exclusive title featuring a prominent character.

I predict the demand for petroleum will lead to the end of single issue floppies.

Instead, weekly comics will be tattoed on the flesh of fat men, and these men will do tours of comic shops where fanboys will gather and for two-bits get their comic fix.

Great. I'll have nightmares for like a month now. :(
