I don't see it as Superman beingg Batman-like. He's standing up for the common man. Morrison has already said this is Bruce Springsteen AMERICA FUCK YEAH Superman.

Sadly Springsteen hasn't really been relevant since either 1987 or 2002 (depending on how you felt about The Rising)

Wow.

One of the hardest working people in the music industry, who uses his visibility to speak on the importance of "truth, transparency and integrity in government, the right of every American to have a job, a living wage, to be educated in a decent school, and a life filled with the dignity of work, the promise and the sanctity of home..." gets called not relevant by a guy with a ubiquitous sports blog no one reads.

I've gotten 128,000 hits. 1,772 hits just yesterday. Somebody's reading the thing.

As for Springsteen, he hasn't been a major force in pop culture in a long while. When's the last time he said anything that got talked about on the evening news or FOX or MSNBC?

He's not a politician, why should that be his barometer for success? Whenever he has a new album, he appears on all the talk shows, on the Daily Show. He headlined Glastonbury, one of the world's biggest music festivals 2 years ago.

But yeah, he's no Ryan Conklin or whoever it is you're gay for this week.

Lady Gaga hasn't been on Piers Tonight. She's hardly relevant.

Maybe if he appeared on some arsehole of an MTV reality show Nac would take him seriously.

Michael Jackson hasn't been talked about on FOX news in the last several months. Completely irrelevant.

I been watchin' you a long time
Trying to figure out where and when
We been moving down that same line
Time is now maybe we could get skin to skin

Don't know when this chance might come again
Good times got a way of comin' to an end
Don't know when this chance might come again
Good times got a way of slippin' a-way
Let's be friends, baby let's be friends

I know we're different you and me
Got a different way of walkin'
The time has come to let the past be history
Yeah if we could just start talkin'

Don't know when this chance might come again
Good things got a way of comin' to an end
Don't know when this chance might come again
Good things got a way of slippin'
Let's be friends, baby let's be friends

Do, do do doo do do do doo
Do, do do doo do do do do doo
Do, do do doo do do do doo
Let's be friends
Do, do do doo do do do doo
Do, do do doo do do do doo
Let's be friends

There's a lot of talk going 'round you
Let them talk you know you're the only one
There's a lot of walls need tearing down
Together we could take them down one by one

Don't know when this chance might come again
Good times got a way of comin' to an end
Don't know when this chance might come again
Good times got a way of slippin'
Let's be friends, baby let's be friends

my friend went to see the boss maybe 5, 6 years ago and he had nosebleed seats. before the show starts some usher comes up to them and asks he and his wife to come with them. my friend thinks maybe they got sold scalped tickets or fakes, but they get moved to the second row and the usher explains bruce always saves some seats upfront and then switches a few random people in the way back to them. i love bruce.

(although i have no interested in a bruce record past tunnel of love)

If we reach back as far as 2009, he was the opening act at Obama's inauguration celebration, and his music was used by the campaign widely. They played Springsteen in Grant Park after Obama's victory speech. It was in the news.
