Recommend me some Indy books

Postby e_galston » Fri Jun 01, 2012 11:47 am

So i finally got all caught up on my DC/Marvel books and i'm looking for something to read this weekend.

I posted this on FB and i'd like some suggestions from here too.

Ideally i'd like to read something that i can get caught up on relatively easily. I've already been suggested Snark, what else should i read?

What are your tastes leaning towards this weekend? Meaning, which Genre are you looking to explore/read about?

The first five trades of Atomic Robo are all available on comixology for incredibly cheap. I highly, highly recommend them.

Are you reading RASL and Sixth Gun or do you need more obscure stuff? I really enjoyed Matt Kindt's first issue of Mind MGMT. It's Dark Horse but it feels very D&Q.

Oddball ones I've gotten recently with only 1 or 2 issues out.

Rebel Blood
Mind the Gap
Spider
X-O Manowar

I've got the new Kurtis Weibe book in my pull this week.

Then my first recommendation would be to try "Princeless." It may be aimed at kids, but the way the story is told is simply Marvelous. By the end of it, not only will you laugh at how the book spins certain Conventions on its' head, but be totally behind the main character and her supporting cast. It really was one of the hidden gems of 2011.

And guess what? The Trade came out just a couple of weeks ago, so you can snag it up ASAP.

Beyond that, I would also recommend "The Sword" and "Elephantmen."
