Ze rules:

Post your review in the forum thread or in the comments section here on the front page.

Review as often or as little as you like. Once you've posted 5 reviews, you will be awarded 1 pick. You can post 5 reviews, right? That's a totally achievable goal and with day and date digital releases becoming the standard, it shouldn't matter if your shop ordered enough copies of this weeks comic or not.

When multiple Review Groupers have posted 5 (or more) qualifying reviews, they will be awarded their pick in the order that they qualified. What constitutes a qualifying review? Any review posted (with a score on a scale from 0-10, that's right 0!) within 1 calendar month of the thread going live. Reviews are to be at least 5 sentences long. It shows that a) you have at least read this week's pick and b) you have some unique insight into the comic.

Reviews posted while waiting in line for your pick will be applied to your next pick.

I'll be keeping track of everyone's progress with the newly christened Spreadsheet of Fantastic (RIP, Spreadsheet of Doom) and reporting the results in the Current Members list in the weekly OP. When it's your turn to make a pick, I will PM you. If you do not respond to me by Midnight EST the following Sunday, you will lose your pick and I will start a poll to determine that week's selection.

Any week in which we do not have a Review Grouper with 5 qualifying picks, we will determine the week's comic via poll.

If it's your week to pick, remember to keep it at $3.99 or under.

The first thing that I noted when I began to read this issue was that the style of art made me think of a children's book. That in and of itself is neither a good nor bad thing. That it was an interesting art choice is something I will say. It did make me pay attention and hope that what I was about to read would be good. Sadly though, by the time I got to the last page, I felt more disappointed than anything else.

There's a lot of interesting ideas here. The problem is that none of them were brought together to give any kind of forward momentum. There was no real plot formed; no real sense given to what direction the story is going to take. It's all interesting points with nothing brought together to make me want to continue with the next issue. By the end I was left with the thought that there was no real point to what I had just read.

I sat with this for a week or two. It was my pick and i made it when i realised that i had genuinely loved a lot of Farel Dalrymple's art but for some reason his name had never really made it to my watch list.

Theres more going on in proxima centuri than whats on the surface. I think. I mean I'm pretty sure?... probably.
On the surface its a hectic race through changing maze environs that dalrymples dreamlike art somehow manages to make hyperdetailed and abstract at once. Underneath that though Sherwood 's prologue story of meditation and losing his brother orson, along with phrases like "whats happened to my sense of wonder" "gravity is shifting" "desperation" "meh", call to mind classic tropes of dealing with grief and depression. Im not certain but i think sherwood may be escaping reality more than hes escaping the maze.
As a first issue this has enough to intrigue me and bring me back so 6.5/10
with a feeling that this will increase if the series sticks the landing.
