You do need an excuse, but that's not good enough.

BTW, that Depeche Mode video is awesome. I've never seen it before. That reminds me, I need to get back into them. Since getting my new computer, a lot of my music is lost. :-(

Nope, still not good enough. If Starlord likes Rent, I'm still gonna give him one a these: :smt075

Only Fourthy can come forward and say he likes Rent and get away with it scott free.

If you said you liked Avenue Q you would be cool with me.

I've yet to see Ave Q, but I also love Phantom of the Opera and Sweeney Todd. :afro:

Avenue Q is just really funny. I like Sweeney Todd, but I have a problem with Phantom independent of the quality of the musical itself really. When I first went to college, it was the height of the craze for the musical--Good Lord, do you realize as of last October they've done that thing over 10,000 times? Anyway, way back when I was a big Fat Boys fan, I spent my first year or two of college in film school learning all that obsolete and expensive equipment no one uses anymore and I lived in a dorm full of theater and dance majors. And they would chain-smoke Marlboro lights and drink diet cokes and snort cocaine and stay up all night every night dancing in the hallways and singing Phantom of the Opera music. Over and over. Punctuated only on rare occasions by Depeche Mode. I shit you not.

That one part where Sarah Brightman screams on the soundtrack STILL gives me the uncontrollable urge to whip open a door and strangle somebody.

Originally I couldn't get into Phantom of the Opera. One of my friends tried for about a year to get me into it and I just couldn't. Then she was in talks to direct one of the school plays and it was going to be Phantom of the Opera and all of a sudden I was set as the ideal actor for the role. I got pissed but decided, "fine, whatever." But I still wasn't happy. I told my voice coach about it and all of a sudden she jumped in glee and forced me to learn the songs as she was a Phantom geek and I had to do it. :-(

Eventually the songs grew on me and I now love the soundtrack, the movie, the show. Overall I became a huge fan of the overall story. The original book was pretty damn good.

It was the logical choice.

Expect lots of anti-Richards tirades from me as well.

Hell, no.

I loathe musicals. All of them.
