I'm sorry but whoever was in charge of editing this book has failed twice in one arc. On the plus side, it shows how much editorial supervision Bendis is given.

Heh heh. Considering who that editor is, it lends great credence to my old theory that some editors spend too much time on PR and marketing, or even hypocritically bad-mouthing their competition for the same practices they engage in, and not enough time actually editing.

I've said it before and I'll say it again here--he's a piss-poor editor.

Bendis' Marvel Boy or Protector is not the same character that he was. He always plucks obscure characters from MK or MAX and warps them into his own thing, previous stories be dammned. (Sentry, The Hood, Marvel Boy)

I normally like Bendis' work, he's not my favourite writer, but he's far from the worst and is worthy of neither of the high levels of praise nor the high level of scorn that he receives. Having said that, this issue is far from his best work. Its padded even past what he usually does, to the point that I found it a little on the dull side. The story overall was still enough to hold my interest, but this was a very average issue.

Is this issue in the running to earn the lowest score of all-time? For what its worth, I don't think it should have a score as bad as Weird Worlds :smt102

I gave it a good rating :cry:

Good to see other point of views though. I just think the complaints about "Filler" aren't that accurate for this issue. Sometimes you have to move the pieces into place otherwise it won't make too much sense.

I agree though that they could have cut down stuff like the water scene to a single page, and probably had the Hood tussle with the heroes before disappearing them.

Another editorial mistake: Apparently Ant-Man and Iron Fist have met before, in the cafeteria in the pages of a Thunderbolts comic. And even though Iron Fist may have been hypnotized in T-Bolts, in Avengers #10 Iron First knows who Ant-Man is but Ant-Man doesn't appear to have ever met him.

Wasn't Iron Fist under some kind of mind control in that issue or something?

I don't remember much from that run, it wasn't very good though.

Yes, but Iron Fist knows who Ant-Man is in Avengers #10 while Ant-Man acts like they've never met. Ant-Man was never under any sort of mind control in T-Bolts.
