So when does a Legacy Hero stop being a legitimate way to make a new one? Because a Person of Color becomes one? (Note: I am not accusing you of saying this, Bender.)

Should they all be legacies? No

But if one or two of them are, is that a bad thing? Also No.

I just think that making minorities into heroes that were formally white does not elevate the minorities in comics like the publishers may be thinking. In fact IMO it actually reduces them because the question becomes: are people reading the Atom because he's Asian or are they reading the Atom because of their fond memories of the Atom they knew? IE Ray Palmer and Al Pratt. Both of whom were white? So what you have is a Asian character that is just piggy backing on the fame of a white character. If I was a minority I wouldn't find that flattering.

Jaime is a great Blue Beetle that replaced another great Blue Beetle and I didn't read his book because of a love of Ted.

Jason is a cool Firestorm. Not just because of the previous Ronnie version, but on his own as an interesting character.

Nothing wrong with legacy heroes passing on their titles to minority characters.

Asked about increasing diversity—particularly, "where are the Asians?"—Wallace said that diversity did not have to only mean heroes, but "diverse people." "When you look at the world around them, it's populated by" people of every color and orientation. He added that there would be an Asian hero debuting in "Mr. Terrific."

Lee added that "there's a character in Justice League—a very small character—rhymes with 'Batom.'"

If Ryan Choi is in Eric Wallace's Mr. Terrific, it will certainly make up for the fact that Wallace killed him in Titans.

Sounds like the Mr. Terrific character is new, though. Atom sounds like a second thing. (I don't want Wallace anywhere near Choi).
