Nice interior art. That is some god-awful writing.

Back in the day, I could somewhat overlook how stylistically unpleasant Liefeld's art could be because there was energy in most panels. Often inappropriately placed, hypersexualized, teeth-clenching, sphincter-bleeding energy, but energy nonetheless.

Now, not only is it bad art, but it's boring and a bit stiff.

True story, a few days ago in the shop, a customer asked me was Hawkman a continuation of Hawk And Dove. I dunno if it was exhaustion or what, but I mumbled yes, and he bought a load of issues.

Here's the thing: is this nonsense any worse than what Jim Starlin wanted to do with him. Or any of the nonsensical bullshit that the character's been shat upon with in recent years. The saving grace of the book is that, because its Liefeld, it gets a little more press, and attention than the indy geek writing Grifter (before Rob, anyway), or the guy on Voodoo.

Plus, you know, because he's on THIS, it means he's not on a character people actually care about.
