Some juicy DCnU news out of the DC: Young Justice panel at San Diego Comic Con today!
Dear readers, you might want to sit down before I tell you this. Tim Drake was never Robin in the DCnU.
Today at the DC: Young Justice Panel, DC head writer Scott Lobdell gave some info on the
Teen Titans Zero issue coming out in September, saying that the issue is "Almost exclusively about Tim Drake, but we get some secret info about Skitter and Bunker...as near as I recall, as it is now Tim goes straight from being Tim Drake to being Red Robin in that there was no official period of time where he was Robin. We keep most of the origin in tact in that he was one of the few people who could get very close to learning who Bruce is...but it will be a much updated version of his origin."
Some readers might be confused by the fact that Drake was actually shown as Robin in
Teen Titans #1 (pictured below), which shows that Lobdell has absolutely no concern for even the continuity within one of the twenty-seven books he writes for DC, much less the continuity of the DCnU as a whole, for which he has already shown a complete lack of regard when he listed the names of names of former Teen Titans members in
Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 despite the current incarnation of the team being the only one in the DCnU. Drake was also named as a Robin in
Batman and Robin #10, an issue titled
War of the Robins, which proves once and for all that Lobdell is single-handledly destroying the credibility of the DCnU, as there is no possible way that this clusterfuck can be resolved by simply saying that being "Red" Robin counts as being a "Robin."
DC fanboys are well known to suffer from a very rare medical condition that prevents them from being able to comprehend changes to DC continuity. "If Tim Drake was never Robin, then how could Tim and Kon's secret love affair have happened exactly the way I remembered it?!" said Harold Winer, before his head asploded. Indeed, a small change like this could ruin the entire DC Universe, causing fans everywhere to declare that they are done with DC forever while continuing to purchase and read the books anyway.
Stay tuned to The Outhouse for more awesome Lobdell news from this panel.
