Now that was awesome. Warren Ellis takes over Secret Avengers and it’s pretty much the perfect Ellis Marvel book. It’s Steve Rogers, Black Widow, Beast and Moon Knight taking on the Shadow Council, but it’s way different from Brubaker’s run. There’s the usual Ellis-science, and he always has a knack for looking at things in a totally unique way, who else could turn Time-Travel into a bomb? There’s snappy dialogue and cool ideas and it all wraps up in one issue. This is like Planetary or Global Frequency but with Marvel heroes and it’s amazing. The art in this issue comes from one of my favourites, Jamie McKelvie, and it may be his best work yet, dynamic, expressive and detailed, wonderful stuff. The artists for the rest of Ellis’ run have a lot to live up to.

Warren Ellis you say?

Jamie McKelvie you say?

Done in one you say?

I may make another run to the comic shop.

Well, this was pretty good but not as interesting to me as a lot of Ellis' other stuff, some of which is still half-finished. I found some of the dialogue a little clunky, including a bit about a quincarrier I just couldn't make heads or tails of. For $2.99 I'd definitely add this to Uncanny X-Force and double the number of Marvel books I buy regularly, but at $3.99 an issue I don't see anything here I wouldn't trade-wait on.

The art was a step-up from the last McKelvie book I eyeballed.

It's only a 6-issue run! Buy it!

That's right, I remember reading that. Only six? If they come out weeks that I am not buying too many other superior books, I might.

Ellis has an option do do another six, if the mood takes him.

Next Issue has art by Kev Walker, then David Aja (David Aja!!!!!!), and then Michael Lark. Not sure of the final two, but I heard Simone Bianchi's name mentioned in our store.

Not sure how Moon Knight smashed that Jeep without crushing his legs or when he learned to fly but other than that, it was decent.

Yeah, what was up with Moon Knight? He wore his flying cape that day, I guess.

That was more plausible then him not turning his legs into powder when he slammed down into that jeep.

Not deal breakers by any means, it just pulls me out of the story when shit like that happens is all.

Either way, being that I'm not a fan of Ellis, I'll be glad when his 6 issues is over.

Because Moon Knight is bad-ass, that's why.

The flying cape comes with jeep-stompin' boots though. Equally plausible.
