With 3D covers!
DC formally announced the news we've all known for months: September will be Villains Month, with all of the publisher's comics temporarily switching focus to a mixture of old and new villains. Villains like Bizarro, the Creeper (who I guess is a villain in the New 52) and Darkseid have been confirmed to be featured in the event.
Each cover will have a "3D motion cover", made of a new technology that combines paper and ink to create the illusion of a three dimensional image. "We’re... doing something really unheard of, I think, as far as a major publisher," said Jim Lee in a real quote to Buzzfeed about the covers.
"We finally found a way to do away with those pesky ridges on all the 3D stuff printed in the 90's," said Didio in an entirely made up quote. "Of course, to develop the technology, we had to lay off our entire graphics staff, which is why the new logos are all crudely written."
Added unpaid intern Vlad Kozinkerkov, the newly promoted chief unpaid design intern for DC: "They say, 'Vlad, go and put new titles on covers, but do not use computer software.' So that is what I do."
All of the Villains Month comics will cost $3.99 (gotta pay for those 3D covers somehow!) and will have a ".1" tacked onto the end of the issue number. The various comics will also somehow lead into Forever Evil, the miniseries event beginning in October.
