I saw some black dude with a lame looking mask busting out of a cover who's that?

Not currently. The current star of the main Green Lantern title is a guy from Dearborn, Michigan. He is muslim and supposedly was at one time an engineer who lost his job and resorted to street racing and stealing cars to pay his bills. Apparently while street racing he inadvertently caused an accident that put his brother-in-law in a coma and then stole a van that had a bomb in it...that he then crashed into a building. Of course, being muslim that led to everyone assuming he was a terrorist and placing him in Guantanamo Bay where he got his Green Lantern ring.

Somebody posted almost that exact same comment over at Ricch's site earlier...I am now suspicious.

In any case, it would certainly explain why he is so uninteresting.

According to the solicits, it isn't just Johns who is leaving: all four Lantern books' creative teams will jump off in May.

I've enjoyed his stories on Green Lantern, he made the book in to what it is today, regardless of the nay-Sayers here, and many people must have thought the book was worth supporting, even going as far as making a film out of the character. I’m sorry to see him go, there appears to be changes afoot that will affect the comics that I will be getting it appears. Hawkman is one of them and now GL. The current story line of a Muslim GL must have pissed a few people off, maybe that’s contributed to Geoff moving on?

Unless Didio gets the boot too.

There's a new guy running Warner Bros (at least he will be on March 1) So there's a good chance heads may be rolling throughout that part of the Time-Warner Empire. And since DC is under the WB umbrella, you might see Didio's head rolling too.

I get a feeling that Johns leaving GL could be a foreshadowing of his leaving his Chief Creative Officer role as well.

Huh, ok, interesting that Johns' two cheerleaders - Tomasi and Bedard, are also done as of their issue #20

Johns is currently writing three other monthly ongoings, plus Trinity War and the Batman: Earth 1 sequel. It makes sense that something had to give. I mean, I know we enjoy wild speculation here, but still. Next you'll be telling us that the new GL writer is obviously Wingman aka Wally West. Or Ryan Conklin.

Kevin Tsujihara, by the way, is an old friend of DC Comics. I don't suspect he's going to be rocking any boats,

Drew Magary is going to be the new Green Lantern writer, and instead of producing comics, he's going to live blog it.
