DC Shocker: Marc Andreyko Takes Over Batwoman, Williams and Blackman's Run Not to Finish?

Andreyko will take over the series as of Batwoman #25, an issue before the current creative team was to finish their run.

Source: Bleeding Cool

Multiple websites are reporting that Marc Andreyko has been announced as the new writer of Batwoman at Baltimore Comic Con.  According to Bleeding Cool, Andryeko will take over as writer of the series as of Issue #25, which will tie into Zero Year, a large Batman crossover set in the past.  Departing creative team JH Williams III and W Haden Blackman were previously solicited on the issue, which was to be the penultimate chapter in the current storyline.  While Williams and Blackman said they were going to finish up the current storyline, which was to run through Batwoman #26, those plans are now in doubt.

Bleeding Cool has put up a video with Dan Didio discussing Batwoman at Baltimore Comic Con, in which he stresses that as a Bat character, Batwoman is not allowed to have a happy personal life and asked the panel to name another publisher that's committed to not allowing their characters to grow (or something like that.  You can listen to it below.

That would be easier for all involved.
Especially DC, who wouldn't feel so pressured to do something stupid every day.

This is good PR on DC's part, as Andreyko is gay, and it will go some way to prove that DC don't actually hate homosexuals as a lot of people have misinterpreted this news as being.

Plus, his Manhunter series was 10 times better than Batwoman ever was, the man can write good female superheroes.

"Happy" and "stable" are not the same thing. you can have a "stable" personal life full of problems...just like Barbara gordon, or dick grayson, or tim drake before they decided to turn him more like batman. just because she is married doesn't mean shit can't fall over Kate. Hell, I think it would be more interesting to see the shit they go trough as a married gay couple IN FRICKING GOTHAM than kate as an individual. I knew they were going to throw the "she is part of the bat-family, so she can't be happy ever", but I really don't see how that translates as "no marriage".
Also, well done, if people were already ocmplaining that you were mistreating your creators, what better way to show the opposite than by REMOVING THEM BEFORE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO.
anyway, I liked Andreyko's works in Manhunter, so I am going to give him ONE chance.

Yup. They can keep saying this until they're blue in the face but some "fans" only hear what they want to hear :P

Andreyko's Manhunter series is still something I like to reread from time-to-time. I definitely will check out his first issue. To me, this is some good news.

Except that's not the real issue. The real issue is creator after creator leaving because of editorial interference. That's why DC is more than happy to answer with "we're not homophobic!" It's a straw man argument.

So not only is DC shortening their run by an issue, they're also already begun putting a crossover tie-in into the book (the second for the series). Wow...

Good PR? They're already giving the book a crossover and at best Andreyko will last six issues before he or editorial have enough of one another.

No, it's not the main issue, but the media are acting like it is.
