SuperginraiX wrote:Hi, the internet. I'm SuperginraiX and I wasted a lot of my life reading almost all of Fear Itself and then writing about it. All it's missing is Fear Itself #7.3: Iron Man because I got to a point where I just couldn't pay for this final final final book.

I started out less than excited about the event and went down from there. I'm usually the guy who CAN'T WAIT for a big event so the fact that I could barely get enthusiastic was probably a good sign I wasn't going to enjoy this thing. I just never thought it would make me feel this dead inside. While there were a few tie-ins that were pretty damn awesome, THIS was the event that taught me that I don't ever want to read a Matt Fraction book again. This was the event where the last book was just terrible on so many levels that I spent most of my time writing about it in full complain mode. I will spare you a repeat on the rant.

But it was ALSO Fear Itself that has left me utterly unenthusiastic for ANY Marvel book, let alone event. I see this Avengers vs. X-Men event heading our way and I just don't care. And I blame Fear Itself.

So basically, I'm only reading IDW's Transformers books now and that's just because I love Transformers more than my disdain for the entire comic book industry. I'm hoping this feeling wears off in time but no decision made by Marvel (or DC, really) is helping. Both companies have some readable books... some GOOD books... but I'm finding it harder to care.

:(

I didn't read any of the tie-ins. But I felt the actual mini was a cursory outline of a story at best. I felt like I was skipping pages or something while reading it.

I remember checking to see if pages where stuck together. They weren't.

Hahahahahaha.... "Indy..."

I know they are produced by non-Big 2 comic companies, but I don't really think of GI Joe and Transformers as "Indie" titles. If I were to tell J.M. Hunter that I had switched to Independant books and then listed off my Transformers books, he would yell at me through the internet as say I wasn't hard core enough or something. It has to be black and white and scratched on slightly used toilet paper to truly be an Indie comic, I suspect.

Fear Itself was indeed bad, and the book's own epilogues erased any good story points that might ahve come out of it

IIRC, there was nothing in the first issue that wasn't shown in the previews/talked about in interviews.

Also, FI's the point where Secret Avengers started sucking.

I thought Fear Itself was ok.

Definitely one of the weaker events, but I still liked it.

The Iron Man tie-in issues with Pepper Potts in Paris (sounds like a porno movie title) in particular were pretty good.

I just think overall it was a little weak, not necessarily bad.

Nick Spencer's Secret Avengers issues were awful pointless waste of times.

Which is a surprise because Morning Glories is a pretty decent book.

Secret Avengers always sucked.

Brubaker's run was mediocre to start out with and never got better.

Remender's run so far has been great, though.
