Ben was Peter up to ASM #100 or something so he definitely had those memories till they retconned it.

If you're saying Cullen Bunn's Venom is better than Slott's Superior then all hope is lost for you =/

No, I was taking a break from comics as a whole during that time period. That being said, I would be more inclined to read an on-going Spider-Man comic with Ben Reilly under the mask than an on-going Spider-Man comic with Otto Octavius. :smt102

You can probably add in that he won't be a member of the Avengers anymore, with his personal life in ruins, and a dash of being wanted for multiple counts of murder among other crimes. :smt102

I am. And it is. Scarlet Spider is better as well, while we're at it.

There's few things I've read in the last decade or so worse than Dan Slott's run on this book (both ASM and Superior)

Ok, that is true. I meant 616. But yes, Ultimate has been the best overall by far.

No. As long as Remender was on the book Venom was better but Bunn's stuff just isn't clicking.

I like Scarlet Spider too but ever since the Massacre issues Superior is now way better.

So... kinda like Spidey in the '70's?

I respectfully disagree. I expected a dropoff after Remender left, but was surprised to not experience much of one. I just got caught up on like.. 15 issues or however much of Venom with Bunn, and I love it.

I don't read Superior, so I can't draw an equal comparison between the books. But I did read the first arc, and thought it was garbage, and not at all a character I have interest in reading about even if temporary.

Yup, instead of any growth or natural progression everything will revert to the old status quo. :-(

.... #1 debuted at the top overall, not just Marvel.

#2 was the fifth highest selling comic in the same month.

#3 and 4 were Marvel's highest selling except for Uncanny X-Men #1's debut in February.

Same with #4.. only #1 premieres beat it out.

You get the picture. It has been one of Marvel's top selling books every month.

HOWEVER... what doesnt support your idea that a boost in quality wasnt just noticed by you... despite its position in the sales lists it has consistently lost readers every issue with the exception of #9 in May. But the June books are down to 84,219 and 82,338 which are lows for the run.

Still selling great. I'm just saying, it is trending downwards. But it has always been one of Marvel's top sellers. Even before Superior. People love Slott's run. I cant explain it.

I am just going to have to wait him out.

Slott's ASM was just so far removed from what even made Spider-Man "Spider-Man" to me... without even getting into THIS run.

I now know how JMS haters felt during his run. Except... I'm pretty sure Slott will never leave the book unless he is forced out. :smt011 :(

I am younger than Dan Slott. I am patient.

Gonna have a sweet run on this book by the time I'm 50.
