Way to drop the ball editorial. With all of the artists that have worked on Animal Man and Swamp Thing, you couldn't find one of them that was free to draw this last issue. Andrew Belager isn't a bad artist, but his style is so tonally wrong for this it's not even funny. None of his rot people are gross or scary, which is a giant shift of the last 37 issues of these two series. Pretty much ruined the finale for me.

Alec and Buddy finally reunite as Arcane unleashes his newest weapons, lobotomized clones of Abby and a Rot Controlled Maxine. While the heroes are distracted, Arcane attempts to sabotage the Batbot that is filled with Biorestorative formula. He succeeds in sabotaging the robot's flight systems forcing Swamp Thing to attempt to fly the hulking machine into the atmosphere himself. After absorbing Beast Boy's connection to the Red, Animal Man is able to gain control of the fight long enough for Swamp Thing to detonate the Batbot in the atmosphere and seeding Rotworld with new life. Seeing that his plans are starting to fail Arcane flees into his home where he exploits his connection to the Rot, escaping into the Rot and Time itself because death is timeless. Alec and Buddy arrive too late and believe that all hope is lost until help arrives in the most unexpected of places, the Parliament of Death. Apparently the Parliament is not pleased with Arcane's actions and the fact that he completely destroyed the balance between the Green, the Red, and the Rot. They offer to send Alec and Buddy after Arcane in the hopes that they will stop him once and for all. The issue ends with Alec and Buddy entering the Rot one more time.

Can't wait for this story to be over, these latest issues were just boring.

Honestly, I will probably drop Swamp Thing after issue 19. I will give Soule a shot but I doubt that I will be back for issue 20.

I've added enough stuff from Marvel Now that I can happily drop it before Soule and grab the trade if it's the new sliced bread.

I'm still liking the story (even picked up Animal Man which was one of the first New52's I dropped).
But that art on Swamp Thing #17. Just so wrong for this book. Horror is supposed the theme yet it was comical because of this guy's style.
Bad move by the editor.

Agreed. It wasn't bad enough to completely pull me out of the story but it certainly didn't help the story at all.

You guys should talk about spoilers more. IvCNuB4 is going to get upset...
I'm on the fence of whether I care to follow Swamp Thing after this is all done. Really wish we had gotten more Francavilla on that book

I provided spoilers for the entire issue about 7 or 8 posts up.

I have to say that I enjoyed this issue, but that was pretty much all down to the writing. I agree with the sentiment that the art was all wrong for the story.

Thank you Troy for the sig
