Over in the "DC Revamp Central" thread, a notable number of posters are putting Legion of Super-Heroes v7 n1 on their "No Way In Hell" sub-lists, and Legion Lost v2 n1 on their "Yes, Definitely" sub-lists.

Methinks that the affection or desire for Paul Levitz's storytelling work doesn't extend very far beyond the precincts of long-time Legion fans. Either that, or there's an appetite for the Legionnaires-out-of-home-waters premise.

I'll probably buy both, if they stay at $2.99 each, but if I have to pare back in these still-recessionary times, what I'll be getting is the one that has Dawnstar featured every month.

Legion Lost appeals to some due to it chucking so much of the Legion. Easier for them to get into.

That and Chap's hatred of the LoSH.

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #1
Written by PAUL LEVITZ
Art by FRANCIS PORTELA
Cover by KARL KERSCHL
On sale SEPTEMBER 21 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US • RATED T
The Legion of Super-Heroes has been decimated by the worst disaster in its history. Now, the students of the Legion Academy must rise to the challenge of helping the team rebuild – but a threat of almost unstoppable power is rising at the edge of Dominator space, and if the new recruits fail, the Legion Espionage Squad may be the first casualties in a war that could split worlds in half!

This may be the best description of the neo-Classic era yet.

- Both Action Comics and Justice League are set at the "dawning of the age of superheroes," DC said. (But that dawn doesn't appear to be too long ago, since it's being reported that they will take place only five years in the past.)

- All other September titles will be taking place in DC's "contemporary times," unless it's a period piece, like Demon Knights, Jonah Hex or Legion of Super-Heroes.

I'm hoping that DC decides to use the "five years" rule for Legion. If there needs to be a team that needs to be de-aged a tad, it's them. You can have Garth & Imra still married in their early 20's, but have Cos and most of the rest of the team still in their late teens. (He was 14 when the Legion started. Do the math.)

Am I odd for feeling that Saturn Girl's mind-wiping Cosmic Boy (so that he doesn't remember that they fucked) is a tad messed up?
