The Official Outhouse 52apolooza Rankings

Postby LOLtron » Sat Sep 10, 2011 4:17 pm

So which DC Relaunch books are the best?  Which are the worst?  Click here to find out, based on our 52apolooza Scores!

As many of you know, The Outhouse is holding a 52apolooza in celebration of DC's line relaunch.  Each one of DC's 52 new titles is being reviewed by four or more reviewers, each looking at the book from the perspective of a different type of fan.  Each reviewer will also score the book on a scale of 1-100 to rank them from best to worst so that fans know which books are the best (and worst) on the shelves right now.

Be sure to visit this page often, as we'll be updating the scores as we get 52apolooza Scores in on a daily basis.  If you're interested in reading more about a book, be sure to check out the links to the corrosponding 52apolooza Review article.

It gives the average score, so you know it got 73 out of 100 on average, so it was a C comic. I think these have plenty of info.

I also have a thread which asks readers to place the DCnU books they are reading into groups like Keepers, OK, but not buying, Crap, etc..

I think this is another gauge to see where we plan to spend our money based on the #1s alone.

shouldn't the average score be the books rank?

I decided to average the scores of all the reviews, regardless if they count towards the 52apolooza Score or not. Justice League, for instance, has all four of its 52apolooza Reviews in plus two extra ones. In that case, the average score doesn't quite sync up with what its ranking would be.

Blue, did you get my Batgirl review? I sent it days ago. No rush putting it up. Just curious.

Updated with all the scores so far. We have one more 52apolooza article from Week One left (Green Arrow) which will go up tomorrow.

I gotta say I thought this was a pretty lackluster crop of books. The heavy hitters like JLA and Detective and Action were pretty meh with Action being the most promising.

Then you have crap like Hawk and Dove and Green Arrow and Stormwatch (a real disappontment for me).

I don't know, I hope DC's got some cool things coming down the pike.

^If it makes you feel any better, MoW has a better average score than Batgirl.Which isn't saying much at all, now that I realize it.If we took the average scores, Swamp Thing, Animal Man and Static Shock are top reads, with Hawk & Dove lazily at the bottom. Where it should be.

Updated! Justice League's been knocked out of the Top Three, but Animal Man looks ready to jump up depending on where the final score lands.

I've been holding off on posting Green Arrow and Detective due to a lack of reviews. However, if I don't see anything by tonight/tomorrow (I might be heading down to sit on a panel at a comics convention tomorrow but it's still up in the air) reviews will be updated accordingly.

I'm pretty sure some of you wanted to like JLI more than you actually did.

It's like what happened when I watched Daredevil for the first time. I had convinced myself I liked it. Then I watched it again and I couldn't believe how awful it was.

That was JLI. Terrible dialogue. Terrible pacing. Everyone just HAD to talk in everyone panel. It felt like Bendis in that way. It was just stupid.

Updated with Batgirl's final score. So far, Justice League has the lowest "final" score out of all the DC Relaunch.
