Some thoughts on Power Girl from Justin Gray over on the Bloc:

"Oddly enough the fighting aspect of Power Girl - style, techniques and so on is something I've been pushing for as a radical change in the series. Jimmy and I don't want her to be this roundhouse and front kick kind of fighter who relies on the Captain Kirk crap we've seen MOST superheroes use over the last 50-60 years - excepting the Bat-related heroes. What would be scary is if someone with her power, heh, could use real world fighting styles and just how insane that would be to see and to feel as a villain."

"In martial arts you're taught to avoid the fight in any way possible BUT if you have to fight end it quickly in as few moves as possible. Not sport or point fighting, but real fighting on the street when your life is on the line. I think a lot of superhero fights are pro wrestling fights where the three acts have to be employed, fight well in the beginning, get your butt kicked in the middle and then come back strong in the finish. Even in boxing you have point fighters with a lot of style and you have sluggers. I hope PG fights are different."

"Thanks! In my mind she is first-rate and different from the others. Hopefully we'll be able to show that."

Also, it is confirmed that Power Girl will hit the stands at the end of the year.

Nah. Just wanna keep it alive. It was a staple at Old Rama, hence the preservation.
