I hate myself for kind of liking this idea. Whatever happened to the idea that the symbiote could only be used a limited amount of times before they'd have to change "pilots"? (Admittedly, this may have been addressed...I haven't been picking up the book for a while.)

It's been addressed in the book. Flash has bonded with the symbiote and he has to keep it under control (with drugs or damage) or it tries to take over.

Flash went rogue and stayed in the 'suit' beyond the time limit, and the symbiote bonded with him.

It takes over him, and he becomes a vicious and violent classic-looking Venom sometimes.
