Thunderbolts #161

Postby Zechs » Wed Aug 03, 2011 6:38 pm

Was a great issue with a lot of subplots starting to pay off. We get some development on almost every front with the bolts having to save Chicago from one of Baron Zemo's pet projects that Sin stole (Helmut is soooooooo not happy about that). Nothing on the Crossbones front, it's merely the bolts reeling from last issue and now dealing with this new army that's poised to take down Chicago. And they're getting outside help with Zemo, though they don't know it yet (Fixer contacted him recognizing the tech design).

Is anyone getting the feeling that Steve won't be the one to do Sin in? It'll be Helmut? With Brubaker's prequel and this issue, one gets the feeling Helmut is biding his time and the moment Sin has no more Serpent powers she is sooo gonna die. Which makes the Red Skull's return all the more obvious.

I'm rooting for them to blow up Chicago.

Same here, Zemo's appearance was the best part of this issue for me. I also loved the genetically engineered army climbing out of the waters of Lake Michigan to attack Chicago. This was a fun issue overall. :)

Good issue as usual, but an army of mindless freaks has kind of become the standard villain for the team right now.

Declan Shalvey’s art is so good, and he’s getting better with every issue. Whilst this issue didn’t have anything as mind-bending as last month’s trip into the Juggernaut’s head, it was still excellent. Parker has a lot of story-balls up in the air (are story-balls a thing? They are now!) and I had a hard time following them at times, but I think it all made sense, and when you have moments like Moonstone diverting a nuclear missile. It’s cool to have Zemo back in the mix too, in the chaos of all these hammers and Nazis, I actually forgot that he had been betrayed by Sin back in the book that kicked off Fear Itself. I bet he’s got a bigger part to play in this event.
