Gail Simone reveals rejected pitch for a SHAZAM! anthology written by herself, Mark Waid, and Grant Morrison.

Source: @GailSimone

Do you like spending your days in perpetual sadness? Do you like to spend hours on end regretting things that never happened. Well, you’re in luck. Gail Simone told her Twitter followers on Tuesday about a rejected proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology that would have been written by herself, Mark Waid, and Grant Morrison each tackling a different member of the Marvel Family.

DC turned down a proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology title written by Waid, Morrison, and SImone.

Let me repeat. DC turned down a proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology title by Waid, Morrison, and Simone.

For most fans, any one of these writers on a Marvel Family project would have been a dream come true. DC rejects a truckload of projects, but turning down this one really hurts for some reason.

I'm weary of wishing for an all-ages Captain Marvel/Marvel Family book.
I'm now at the point where I hope DC relegates the character to limbo or sells the Fawcett properties to another company. :|

Agreed. DC's treatment of this character has me believing they could screw up a square knot.

Waid writing Cap Marvel, Simone writing Mary Marvel & Morrison writing Marvel Junior?!?

Oh, that would have been AWESOME!

Instead, we got.... nothing. Right. Good call, DC.

Sadly, that's not gonna happen. Owning Capt. Marvel is war booty for DC, considering how hard it worked to put Fawcett out of the comic book business.

Ugh, I know. But it seems like we'll eventually get a regime at DC Comics that won't hold a grudge from the 1940s and keep Captain Marvel stuck at 'not quite Superman' status.

Seeing how awesome some of the Gold Key(seriously Magnus is awesome!) comics are and their love of old pulp heroes I think Dynamite would be a good home for Captain Marvel.

It would never happen. Unless the rumors of DC buying Dynamite Uncle Rich posted a few months back come true. (At least I think it was Uncle Rich that posted it)

I know it will never happen but if they were to give it up to anyone Dynamite may be the best fit.
