Oh come on, did none of the people who died in Ultimatum actually die? After last month’s revelation that Charles Xavier wasn’t dead, this one did the same for Magneto. I know these characters are pretty much integral to the core concept of the X-Men but I was having a lot of fun reading an X-Men that was missing a lot of the usual suspects like those two and others like Wolverine and Cyclops. The Ultimate X-Men really were in a very different place to the 616 X-Men and now that’s gone. Hopefully Spencer has a good reason for bringing back everybody’s favourite MLK and Malcolm X analogues, but for now I’m suspicious. I did like how this issue focussed on Quicksilver and how badly he fucked everything up, we had spent the first few issues of this title thinking he was a Machiavellian genius, but Spencer cleverly undercut that. I did like seeing Wanda again (and Barberi gave her a massive rack) but where was the creepy incest vibe that made the Ultimate versions of these characters so interesting? I’m not saying I want to read about incest (Although I do like me some Jaime Lannister), but it always gave these characters an edge.

And please don't take this as I'm depressed or anything, I'm just shocked at the sheer stupidity. Ultimanium might be one of the worst comics of the decade, whose only worthwhile function was to clear the decks so Marvel could get the Ultimate Universe back to its original purpose of creating a Universe where you can do things that you can't do in the 616.

If that's taken away then what was the point of the Ultimate Universe for the last 3 years?

Even if the Ultimate line gets neutered, we will still have had the past three years to hold close to our hearts.

Mystique and Mastermind... Mystique is STILL out there and Mastermind could easily make Rogue think she's talking to Xavier..

I'm thinking the same thing. They have said, in the last week, that dead is dead and that answers are coming. I really dont think that its Prof X and Magneto.

Didn't Cyclops vaporize Magento's head?

And Ultimatum was completely unbalanced anyways. 95% of the deaths were X-Men and the writers were so eager to do it that most of these deaths weren't even seen, Mystique just listed them off.

Yeah but there aren't as many other ult heroes, and a bunch did die. Strange, Daredevil, Pym, Wasp, Doom...
