They key bits:

Speaking of Geoff and Jim, a fan asked about Darkseid as well, wondering if he was going to be a big cosmic threat coming up to whatever DC’s new 52 was building towards. The guy didn’t think he was going to get an answer, but Dan Didio replied “yes.” There is a reason an introduction to Darkseid was being set up in the first Justice League arc, being the first threat that they unite to battle. When he returns, more heroes will have to unite in order to stop him, giving us a new crisis event most likely.

Another fan asked about the Kord Industries and New Gods references in O.M.A.C. to which the panel replied was obviously intentional. There will be future references to these characters and many others. That led us to a young man that asked about Wally West, to which of course I clapped and seconded. Dan and Eddie gave an answer that is going to keep me at bay with nerd rage for a while longer. He said because there were de-aging Barry, they didnt want him to be the same age as Wally. Plus they didnt want to take away Wally’s kids and family or make him a teenager again, especially with Bart already in that role. Dan also pointed out that someone close to him is a big Donna Troy fan, and Donna was given the same treatment when Wonder Woman was made younger in the relaunch. Their answer was that they are simply focusing on establishing the characters they started out with in this new 52, but not saying those other characters don’t exist or aren’t around in some way. They understand that everyone’s character is someone’s favorite. They just ask us Wally and Donna fans to be a bit more patient with them and those characters will be seen once more.

Let me translate this for you. DC: "We are idiots. We don't know when we'll bring these characters back. It might be soon. It might be. We're just throwing darts and seeing what is sticking."

Simple solution DC, if you don't like Wally and Donna, give them to Earth 2. JSA fans will take them. Make them the protege's of Jay and E-2 Diana respectively. Better that than eternal limbo. Especially since what with Johns' hard-on for Barry, Wally will either never see the light of day again in the main DCnU, or will be turned into an afterthought.

Alternatively: "We are pretty smart. We wanted to increase our market share and we succeeded big time. We hear the fanboys' grumbles, and will make vague noises of appeasement when confronted, but in the long run a handful of guys on message boards are not and never will account for the majority of customers, no matter how they bitch and whine."

And I say this as a Wally fan.

Seeing as Johns dumped Barry after only about a year or so, I'd say his lust for Hal is greater.

But let's not turn E-2 into a dumping ground for DCU characters.

Wally will be back chill out.

A temporary solution if only because Marvel is playing the village idiot in terms of story-telling. It still amazes me Aquaman sold better than every Marvel book.

I think his lust for Hal has fell. I mean look at who's really been the star of GL the past two years. It sure hasn't been Hal.

I think Aquaman is getting a very strong word of mouth on the title an people are picking it up more to see what has been happening. I expect the sales to start to slow down but I think it does deserve it being a top 25 book.

I don't know...we have Power Girl and Huntress on the wrong earth for some yet undisclosed reason. I don't see why Donna and Wally could have been similarly misplaced. It's not the worst idea I've heard.

It sells because of the name "Geoff Johns".
And not because he's writing it well, either.

People constantly saying "Aquaman, you're a JOKE!!" ad nauseum -- even as they SEE him prove otherwise!! -- is BOTTOM 25 material. :roll:
