So, I'm about halfway through this:

It's great. Not the amazing experience I expected, but it's very good.. maybe because I've already seen and read many of these story elements in other sci-fi stories that ripped this off, prior to having read this first, some of the impact is lost on me.

But the art is great, and I'm loving it so far. I really, really need to find more Moebius stuff.

Recaptures that old Jack magic for just a second and then flames out horribly. Quite the disappointment. Shakespearean ending.

Also, Tony Akins should never, ever, be allowed to ink his own work.

Give us a review? I just couldn't pull the plug on something I suspect has tons of obscure chronologically specific Brittish references. That said, I'm still likely to pick it up. It's how I roll.

Got Casanova: Gula from Thwipster earlier this week and am just starting it. I was worried that I would hate the colorization, but Cris Peter absolutely murdered it and it looks amazing. If I had more disposable income, I'd consider getting the rerelease of volume 1.

It's good, but most of the references went over my head (and I'm British) and threaten to overwhelm the story at times. But the dialogue and ideas are typically brilliant from Moore, and the ending was brilliant. There's also a lot of the weird sexual stuff that's a part of Moore's recent work. The art was of course fantastic, and while it is frustrating, it's worth being frustrated to get at the gold underneath.

Make sure to read the previous issue first.

Was out of town babysitting wolf hybrids for most of the weekend, not much to do but read.

Read the Neil Gaiman Miracleman issues for (mostly) the first time. Not as good as the Alan Moore run, but it was clear Gaiman was building to something involving Young Miracleman and possibly even the return of Bates that never got near-completed. Seems like a longshot he'd ever go back to that, although I know he's given the impression he'd like to. That would be something.

Also read the first 3 Invincible tpbs. I really want to catch up to the singles so I can add the book.

When Marvel got the rights to Marvelman, Gaiman said he and Buckingham would both definitely finish their story if they were allowed to.

I know they did, but I still consider that a real long shot at this point.

Annihilation 1, 2, and 3

Wanted to read them but was putting it off for a long time. Newengland Comics had a 3 for 2 TPB sale and I couldn't put it off any longer.
