I got an early Nikolai Dante trade for half off, The Romanov Dynasty. With art by Simon Fraser, Chris Weston, and Charlie Adlard and others, how could I not buy it? I miss my progs but they are too expensive here and the promised weekly distribution and increased exposure in the U.S. has never borne any fruit that I've seen anywhere. I'd be much more willing to buy weekly than on an already heavy week have to get all 4 for over $20.

Finished Captain America by Ed Brubaker vol 1: American Dreamers last night and almost finished Punihser by Greg Rucka vol 1 as well. So far, Punisher is way more entertaining

How is Punisher in general? Rucka's probably my favorite writer, but I've avoided it due to some criticism I've heard ("It's boring," "The Punisher barely shows up," "The art is weak compared to Opena's in the last run.")

Awesome book I nearly missed. The art, while not excellent, its competent and very dynamic. The plot is simple but very effective. Its seems a bit cliche in the first story, but it gets really addictive by half of it. Greatly enjoyed it.

In the first issue the Punisher appears in two or three pages. Everything else is the woman cop (like the woman cop in Wolverine, or the woman cop in Gotham Central, etc.).

Reading Gotham Central. Kinda boring and pissing me off more than Powers.

Starting to think the Superhero police procedural doesn't work...

Its pretty meh. Rucka and Brubaker are always miss for me. I just can't appreciate where they go with the series. I did like the story about driver and the girl. Only 10 issues in though.

Top 10 is awesome!

Finished the 6th volume of my newspapper comics reprint.
This time was a HC that gathered this:

and this:

The first one is ok, the dialogue is weird sometimes, but overhaul its ok. I was disappointed with the second one. The art was awesome, but the story was not very fluid.

Yeah, I love Gotham Central. I thought the first volume was GOOD, but I wasn't drawn in until the Joker story in the second volume. That was fucking great. I've always wondered how the GCPD reacts to the Joker being loose and wreaking havoc.

The series is easily one of my favorites. But if you don't like Brubaker or Rucka, you're NEVER going to like the series.
