I just picked up the first 8 issues for 10 bucks.
I read thru them, they really aren't that good.

It's another Alex Ross "It's from before the 80's therefore it's cool." book. Having said that I'm enjoying it. It's just a romp with no real point to it.

I think if he was forced to paint any character created in the 90's he's burst into flames.

It's extremely pointless because

1) it takes place before Secret Invasion, making an incredible portion of it obsolete months before the series is completed.

2) Bru seems to be going to the return of the original Torch in Captain America, trumping the Torch's appearances here

3) We know it'll end with no lasting effects on anyone.

in issue 8, the Ivaders go back in time forgetting everything they learned in th present. Bucky tried to warn himself of what will happen with his arm and the whole plane crash.

but, what is stupid, earliar in the series young Namor meets present day Namor who says "I remember this meeting" which is stupid cuz Dr. Strange cast a spell on them forgetting the present day.

How are they going to squeeze four more issues out of this?

Dr. Strange and a few others got sent back in time aswell.

The oldschool Vision is using the Cosmic Cube to rechange history so that the Germans have won WWII.

Its just really bad. Though, the original Human Torch in this was pretty cool. But over all, its just meh.

I passed on that in lieu of Avengers/Invaders.

I made a mistake.

Not that big of a mistake. While The Twelve is good, it's also on hiatus indefinitely until JMS decides to honor his commitments and finish it.

There MIGHT be some kind of lasting impression. I can't imagine everyone being so excited about it if there wasn't at least SOME kind of "HOLY SPIT!" moment there at the end. I'm not waiting with baited breath but I haven't ruled it out.
