Yep, just like the massive sales Incredible Hulk had when it became Incredible Herc. Who'd have thought a Hercules book could sell so much via name association?

But by that admission where is Hercules now, pray tell? His series after that folded after 9 issues I believe. I am sure that worked in the Hulk's favor but now so much Herc. Plus if it's like that example, they will change it back to Thunderbolts when the Dark Avengers serve their purpose again and move on.

I think Trickshot and Skaar are the best possible choices for the Dark Avengers....Skaar has a conscience despite being a dick whereas Trickshot is willing to do the right thing when there's no other choice despite being disillusioned with heroism since it always costs him his life or massive injury when he tries to do the right thing and revert from villainy. Perfect choices.

Toxic Moxie though....wasn't she poisoning random people for fun? And the fact Ragnarok hasn't been dismantled or had his head caved in by Thor yet is crazy. Ai Apec...I guess they can argue that being turned human-ish means he doesn't need to eat people anymore making him redeemable.

That's because Pak had a great thing going and fucked up. Chaos War was fucking horrible.

I'm not surprised everyone bailed after that travesty.

I'd like to see a Trickshot mini where he just keeps losing body parts after doing something good.

Where the heck is Constrictor nowadays? He was shaping up to be a real fun character...

I don't have a beef with you.

I never said that I wanted Thunderbolts to get cancelled, bro, I am just saying that if they are going to resort to a marketing gimmick to keep it alive, I would rather see the book ride into the sunset rather than give us yet another Avengers book that we don't need. And I am glad that you have forgiven me for Philgoblin by the way-LOL.

I agree with you on Skaar and Trickshot as they are not bad choices for this lineup. As for Toxie Doxie, she comes off as the Harley Quinn to Osborn's Joker but I hope they don't turn her into another Moonstone who will use her sex appeal to get her way. Don't get the point of Ragnarok at all as he is a character no one gives a rat's ass about and comes off as another Sentry. Ai Apec is also an un-necessary character as we already have enough Spiderman-lite characters running around-Maybe if they put him in the Scarlet Spider book then he might have some use.
What they could do is put Norman's worthless son Gabe( Much as I hate that character) on the team in his American Son guise as the Captain America of the group-or better yet kill him off and give someone else the costume to wear.

I always wondered if his brother Clint was aware of his actions in the Dark Avengers and that he's now in the Initiative? I think that would be the highpoint of the book to have both brothers confront one another.

Pak wasn't even writing the new Herc, that's why it folded.

Him and FvL on Herc was brilliant. Wish it had ended on Assault on New Olympus and then relaunched into powerless Herc though.

If Chaos War was cut out and they'd made a different bridge to get to that point I reckon the series would be going strong. Chaos War got so stupid it almost made me drop the whole thing. The only good thing it gave us was another Oeming Ares story.

Hopefully they will bring back Ares as the evil and bloood-thirsty god he always was and not the tool that was gullible enough to work for Stark and Osborn in the Avengers. Maybe he will get revenge on Sentry should they bring him back as well.

Lol, I like certain characters whether anybody else likes them or not. Say whatever you want, doesn't really bother me.

And I'm saying that if it takes a marketing gimmick to get into the thick heads of readers, I'm all for that rather than letting a good book die. In a world where half of DC's books are crap and are still selling better than Thunderbolts, anything they do has to help.

As I said before we will see if this works in the long run. If it actually helps the Thunderbolts book in the long run then more power to Marvel-if not then I am not surprised.
DC is another special case I won't get into in this reply as I will save that rant for another of my blogs.

Hell no. Anti-hero Ares was one of the best things Bendis did.
