A person dying happens in the endings to most stories for fuck sake. Name one long running tv drama which didn't have people dying at the end of an arc.

Not writing the film: Check.

Most of the things people criticise him for (dialogue, pop culture references, casting the same people and killing characters at the end of a show) are all out of his hands for this.

I enjoy all his works with those anyway so this is all kinds of win imo.

Sure, he'll have an influence. Hopefully a positive one.

I could care less. There's like 2 directors maybe that the comic community would agree on to direct this thing and not bitch.

I really don't see what there is to bitch about.

You've got a guy that cares about the source material, and has shown a talent to direct.

Is there someone out there better? Probably. But fanboy ire is high-larious to see.
